Ryan.Berry has added a photo to the pool:
A self portrait consisting of my hands.
I shot this for an Independent Study project that needed to involve hands. The underlying concept of this piece is essentially an interpretation of how the human mind works. The brain is divided into two hemispheres. The left hemisphere, depicted by my left hand in the photo, is the logic processor that thinks linearly with complete reason. The basic line design on that hand represents the simplistic and straightforward thinking of the left hemisphere. On the other side of the brain, the right hemisphere thinks abstractly and focuses more on details. This is often considered the "creative" side of the brain, so I depicted it on my right hand with a vivid mash of colors that represent the nonsensical abstract though that occurs in the right hemisphere.
The two halves of the brain work together to make us who we are, just as the two hands in this piece merge into one despite their obvious differences.
Shot with a Canon EOS 60D and a Canon EF-S 18-135mm IS lens.
